random entry: Bangkok day 10-11 - arriving, suki yaki, e-tuks, mbk and suan lum night bazaar
we were met by a gush of humidity that is essentially bangkok upon stepping outside of Thailand's new international airport...
we met with dannys parents who came to pick us all up in their 5 seater mercedes benz sedan...and amazingly squished 6 people PLUS 8 BIG items of all our luggage... i shared the front seat with mrs dannys mum...
and sort of walked around with my head and back twisted to the right for the rest of the day...
they took us to eat at fortune city at my favourite thai joint... MK Sukiyaki steamboat restaurant! Finally REAL food and REAL vegies... i dare say that coming from japan... this first meal was bliss ...for all!! cas and ket would agree i would say!
so then we shopped around at TESCO and i was literally in heaven... in a supermarket!! haha but there was so much fresh produce...so much variety... i never apreciated a supermarket so much!
next day we went to dannys aunts place... e-tuks... and i must say everytime i go to e-tuks, she provides the most AWESOME thai lunches!!! im always in heaven eating lunch there! we had the usual paw paw salad and a few other things which i hadn't tried... but it was so yummy that im dying to eat it again right now!
then off to MBK and ofcourse my favourite suan lum night bazaar!
Random Entry: Bangkok Day 12- ramblings, jj mall, chatuchak markets, central chitlom, paragon, RCA- Route 66 Night Club
its 7.45am and i can't seem to get back to sleep, ive been waking up unneccesarily early since ive been here and its quite annoying because now is the time to sleep in...i know that when i get back home, it'll be all hecticity and stress and very early mornings all over again... the mere thought of going back to normality depresses me... i'm trying not to think about how much time we've got left, rather i've been trying to absorb all that i can...
everytime i come to thailand, i find a new appreciation of it... (the first time i came.. i hated the place!)... whether it be maturity or otherwise, but to take in all that is thailand, the culture, the people.. the air... i seem to see it all in a different light each time..
stepping off the plane 2 days ago (still abit sad about leaving japan)...i felt like i had gone back in time to 2.5 years ago.. the smell of thailand the scent of bangkok made me feel like not much had changed and indeed, not much has, still the same traffic jams, the same places... the same culture, i felt like time had not moved much from when i was last here and in a way, i embraced the familiarity...
when we all squished into the five seater car ... that was the moment that confirmed that i was indeed, in thailand... and when i saw 12 school kids jammed into one tuk-tuk, i knew i was indeed in thailand!
so we're staying at dannys parent's new abode, its a cute place, very new, modern and positioned in a fancy ritzy area with its own gym, pool an all that stuff ...
so yesterday we visited MBK and Suan Lum night bazaar, both still pretty much as i remembered them to be, i'm trying my darndest to refrain from buying unneccessary crap as i think ive already exceeded my weight limit...
what makes me happiest about this place is the FOOD.. i've never really appreciated the abundance of fresh produce we have much, but this time, coming from japan... i did!
for me it was so damn good not to have anything teriyaki flavoured or curry flavoured anymore! so damn good to have variety and abundance and for oh so cheap!!!
i dont think ill ever take the choices and variety and all the fresh produce that home has to offer ever again!
as much as i 'think' i lost weight in japan...i think in the span of 2 days i have put on double trying to 'appreciate' all the food!
being around all these waifs dont help the cause very much, i feel the need to eat to compensate for their lack of meat on their bones...yeah the jap chicks and the thai chicks are so bluddy thin!!!
sometimes i just stare at them in an effort to work out how all the organs fit!
yeah perhaps im also a little jealous... pretty much everyone i meet whom i haven't seen for a while tells me ive gained weight ... they say it pretty much like this "becki...you fat now ha?".. with danny trying to stop me from 'appreciating' the food...it makes me rather sad... i feel like there is a standard that i need to live up to that i just can't fulfill...oh i miss those carefree days when i could just eat whatever i wanted and still feel normal...
