christmas is THA SHIT!

who woulda thought id be all gee'd up at the sound of bing crosby's white christmas

...but i am!

christmas is a coming yay! CHRISTMAS IS A COMING!

back in high school there'd be the carols by candlelight practices

where the whole school would pick up their chairs from homeroom and take them to the centre of the courtyard and we'd spend hours practising

i used to sing so loud (those who did not were picked out and made to stand and sing in front of everyone)

o joy what fun it was

then there was uni, we cruised like hoons terrorising the streets with our christmas megamixes and santa hats, the beach, the parties, THE FUN!

i could never get sick of walking through department stores

hearing christmas song after christmas song being churned out

all the oldies

all the goodies

all the trees and tinsel and the santas in the middle of the shopping complex

the pre-christmas rush

omg

christmas is THA SHIT

interviews and gallstones

so i was all ready for my interview with the DPP today, i researched and practised my interview questions, learnt everything by heart, ironed my clothes till the creases were permanent ... i even did a practice drive to the location to suss out the parking and the time taken to get there last night....

and then this morning

i received a phone call at about 8am

it was the DPP and they told me not to come to the interview today

apparently the "BOSS" had gallstones and had to go to hospital... as yet they have not re-scheduled me for an interview

but i am hoping they will soon.

god? is that you?

"GOD? IS THAT YOU? IT'S ME... BECKI"

was the precise remark i made when i heard "Oi you! what are you doing" over the loud speaker in the building i was meant to have my interview in today.

okay, so i was early...and it was tooo tooo tooo hot to be standing around outside waiting... thought i'd take a stickybeak around, who woulda thought that there'd be a huge security system hooked up with eye scanning thingomobobs and stuff...

so the camera followed my every movement, and as did the voice until they made me go through security checks and let me through

the interview was alright, i got so tired they kept asking me question after quetion after question

i had two tests, i think i bodged the audio one though cos i sort of stuffed up

i turned the man into a tranny, well i thought the man speaking was a woman so i used the woman code, then at the end... i realised that the woman was really a man... and i was half way through changing it when the lady came back and stopped me, so the man was a man and a woman at various parts of the dialogue transcribed

SWEET

somehow i dont quite think i got the job, but i guess at least t'was fun-ish

heat stroke

im sitting here, roxette playing softly in the back ground, trying to decide how i am feeling

im a mixture of nerves, of anticipation and yet i am also ironically calm all at the same time, and i am floating in and out of clarity, of conciousness and of my immediate surroundings

elements of the past intermingled with the present and the future

what is this that i am feeling? what is it that i am thinking? what is it that i want?

and what is it that is wanted of me?

while i eagerly look forward to what is to come, i am feeling frightened about not being able to let go of the past, to move forward

to move back

commotion

catharticism

calm

asleep

i am legit!

my first entry as a fully fledged lawyer!! woot woot!

at long last i can say that i am a fully fledged lawyer. i got moved in, swore my oath and signed my name on the roll of Legal Practitioners, yay IM IN! i am legit! haha

i sat next to a chap named tony, tony looked about 40 years of age. before the ceremony commenced tony turned to me and said, ' you know some people tell me i am lucky to be here today .. i say to them, mate it aint luck its bluddy hard work and sheer perserverence ', i said to tony 'AMEN'.

thanks to everyone for all the well wishes, even the ones that came in when i sat on my bag and accidently turned on my fone in the middle of the ceremony and made a huge ruckus!

but for that and my LOUD rumbling tummy, i couldnt have asked for a better day.

the spider

ever had a spider crawl all over your head?

i did.

i was sitting in mums room this arvo, dutifully folding the clothes that i took in from the clothesline earlier, (and i remember i clearly shook each item before taking them inside), when i felt a weird sensation on my scalp

it kind of felt like water was trickling from my head

i had just washed my hair so i thought nothing of it...

until it felt like it was actual droplets, thinkin that i was breaking out a sweat from my obviously tiresome chores... i moved my hand to wipe it away

and then this big fat ugly spider with a huge butt started crawling down my arm, i quickly shook it off with such power that it landed on my jeans in a ball.

then my left elbow and wrist started aching so i thought i had been bitten, i firmly held my elbow with my right hand so as not to die and ran to tell mum.

she told me to put some mentholatum shit on it for some reason

so its better now, cant find fang marks... think im okay, havent keeled over or convulsed yet and its been a few hours.

if you ask how doth my weekend faire? i say swell

... But here, at Shangri-La, all was in deep calm.
In a moonless sky the stars
were lit to the full,
and a pale blue sheen lay
upon the dome of Karakal.
Conway realised then that
if by some change of
plan the porters from the
outside world were
to arrive immediately,
he would not be
completely overjoyed
at being spared
the interval of waiting.

- from the book Lost Horizon -

... from a book mark i took from a room in the Horizon Club at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney, at first i read it and went "Wtf? what is the relevance?".. and then i read it again and realised, it encapsulated the ambience well...

so if you ask how doth my weekend faire? i say swell
